Sea & Floral Face Mask
Being from Cape Cod, we love to source local ingredients to add into our products. We were happy to discover Chatham Kelp who farm Kelp off the coast of Chatham. Kelp has several amazing benefits, some of them being: it has anti-oxidants & can help to protect your skin from UV rays, & pollution. Helps to maintain skins elasticity, & it may help with mature skin by rejuvenating it. Known to assist with redness, dryness, & harsher skin conditions like eczema, & psoriasis. It’s also a natural moisturizer because of its high mineral content.
The next ingredient is Calendula flowers that are grown in our garden. By now we have many plants that self sow, & we even start new plants by seed every spring. Calendula is an herb that is in nearly most of our products. It is anti inflammatory, & helps to soothe irritation & calm sensitive skin. It also contains anti-oxidants which help to neutralize free radicals. Calendula is a major ingredient in diaper rashes, & has long been used in skincare. Its anti fungal too which is just another added benefit for your face.
The 3rd and final ingredient is Bentonite Clay. While this is not sourced locally, it is from the US. It comes from naturally occurring volcanic ash sediments. Bentonite has been labeled by many to be great for removing impurities, oil, & toxins from the skin. At the same time it has a calming effect on inflamed skin, & can assist with acne prone skin by helping to clarify the skins surface.
This is in a 1 oz glass jar. It is in powder form to give you the option to use whatever liquid you want to mix it with. We suggest using rose water, ACV, honey, or purified water. You can play around with measurements but we find mixing 1 tbs powder with 1-2 TBSP of the liquid of choice. Mix into a bowl, and for application, you can use a makeup brush to paint it on, or your fingers-don’t forget your neck! Leave on for 5-10 mins.. then gently remove with a damp washcloth gathering remnants in the cloth. We recommend this way to avoid clogging your sink. Because its in powder form it won’t be as smooth, but more textured when mixed and applied.
No essential oils are added, it contains just the 3 ingredients listed above.
Because clay can sometimes be drying, we recommend using an oil based serum, or moisturizer after. Be sure to check out our face serums! A slight tingling sensation is normal. It is most likely the salt in the kelp, or the drying process of the clay.
**This product has not been evaluated by the FDA, and is not intended to treat any underlying health issues you may have. We suggest speaking to your physician or dermatologist if you have concerns prior to using this product. Test a patch of skin on your arm if you regularly have sensitive skin.
